Woman Accused of Stabbing Friend Released on $20,000 Bond

A 22-year-old Selden woman was released on $20,000 bond Tuesday after being arraigned on an assault charge for allegedly stabbing her friend.
Ashley Zervakos is due back in court on Friday.
According to police, Zervakos stabbed a 23-year-old Manorville woman in her right arm inside Zervakos’ home located at 369 Magnolia Drive in Selden early Monday morning.

When officers arrived, they found the victim was suffering from excessive blood loss, police said.
Officer Kevin Butler, who is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), applied a combat application tourniquet to the woman’s arm to control the bleeding, police said. Butler stabilized the victim, who was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was admitted after emergency surgery.
