Woman Pronounced Dead Found Alive At Funeral Home: Police

Nearly three hours after the 82-year-old was pronounced dead, she was found to be breathing at a funeral home, Suffolk County police said.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Detectives are investigating a case in Suffolk County involving a woman who was pronounced dead, taken to a funeral home, and found to be alive.

The incident began at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, when the 82-year-old was pronounced at Water's Edge Rehab & Nursing Center in Port Jefferson, according to Suffolk County police. More than two hours later, she was taken to O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place, and, nearly three hours after being declared dead, she was found to be breathing, police said.

The woman was transported to an area hospital and the case is being referred to the state attorney general’s office, according to police.
