Woman Found Shot To Death On Long Island: Cops

Officers responding to a 911 call of shots fired found the woman "suffering from a gunshot wound," cops said.

CORAM, NY — A woman found shot in a parking lot behind Middle Country Road in Coram early Saturday morning was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Suffolk police said.

Officers responding to a 911 call reporting shots fired in a parking lot behind 24 Middle Country Road, which is Taino's Lounge, but also serves other businesses, at about 1:25 a.m., police said, adding that when they arrived, the woman was "suffering from a gunshot wound."

The woman, Martina Thompson, 33, of East Patchogue, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead, police said.

A police spokeswoman said detectives believe Thompson was the intended target.

The investigation is continuing, according to police.
