Woman Stabs Her Friend in Selden: Police
The 23-year-old victim was suffering from "excessive blood loss" before a police officer applied a tourniquet early Monday, police say.

SELDEN, NY- A 22-year-old woman stabbed her friend inside a Selden home early Monday morning, police said.
According to police, Sixth Precinct officers responded to 369 Magnolia Drive at about 3 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a woman had been stabbed with a knife during a dispute between friends.
When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old Manorville woman had been stabbed in her right arm and was suffering from excessive blood loss, police said.

Officer Kevin Butler, who is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), applied a combat application tourniquet to the woman’s arm to control the bleeding, police said. Butler stabilized the victim, who was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was admitted after emergency surgery.
Ashley Zervakos, 22, who lives at the home, was arrested and charged with first degree assault. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
