Elderly Woman Trapped In Burning Roslyn Heights Home Suffers Critical Injuries: FD
First responders heard the woman calling out, fire marshals said.
ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — A woman suffered critical injuries after she was trapped in a burning house on Sunday night, fire marshals said.
After Nassau County FireCom received multiple calls reporting a house fire at 11 p.m., fire units responded and were advised by a family member that an elderly woman was unaccounted for and trapped in the burning home, Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.
A Deputy Commissioner of NC OEM and a New Hyde Park Fire Department Chief, who were assisting the Albertson Fire Department, "heard the woman calling out," fire marshals said.

The woman was located in the basement of the home and rescued through "heavy fire conditions," fire marshals said. She was transported to Nassau University Medical Center by emergency medical responders to be evaluated for her critical injuries, fire marshals said.
She was rescued from the house by Deputy Commissioner of NC OEM, New Hyde Park FD Chief, Albertson FD Chief Donald McMahon, East Williston FD Chief Rob Batterson, Roslyn Rescue FD Chief Kern, and a Roslyn Rescue firefighter, fire marshals said. No other injuries were reported, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, about 75 firefighters responded to the two-story home on Schoolhouse Lane and brought the fire under control within 60 minutes. The house was deemed uninhabitable, fire marshals said.
The Albertson Fire Department received mutual aid from Roslyn Rescue, Roslyn Highlands, East Williston, Williston Park, Carle Place, Jericho, Westbury, Garden City Park, New Hyde Park, Mineola, and Manhasset-Lakeville fire departments, fire marshals said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire marshals said they do not believe the fire is suspicious.
