5 Displaced, 1 Firefighter Injured After Manorhaven House Fire Friday Morning: NCFM
Fire marshals say one person was home at the time of the fire and was alerted by a working fire alarm.
MANORHAVEN, NY — Five residents were displaced after a house fire occurred Friday morning in Manorhaven, fire marshals said.
Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the Port Washington Fire Department was dispatched at 9:01 a.m. to a 2-story home on Firwood Road. One person was home at the time of the fire and self-evacuated after being alerted by a working smoke alarm, fire marshals said.
The Port Washington FD transported one firefighter by ambulance to NUMC with a minor injury, fire marshals said. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes with 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by fire departments from Manhasset-Lakeville, Plandome, Albertson, and Roslyn – firefighting operations were under the command of Chief LoRe of the Port Washington FD, fire marshals said. The Office of Emergency Management also responded with the Medical Emergency Response Vehicle, and the Village of Manorhaven Building Department was on scene to assess the damage to the structure.
The investigation is still ongoing – NCFM Investigators and NCPD Arson Bomb Squad Detectives were on scene working to determine the cause of the fire, fire marshals said.
