EAST HILLS, NY — A Long Beach man was arrested after a physical altercation on Saturday in East Hills, police said.
Nassau County police said officers responded to a 911 call on April 25 for an incident that occurred at approximately 5:28 p.m. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 43-year-old man unlawfully entered a 39-year-old woman's home without permission, police said. The two of them got into a verbal argument — the man forcibly removed the woman's cell phone from her hands and physically prevented her from leaving, NCPD said.
According to police, the argument escalated, turning into a physical altercation, and the man pushed the woman down the stairs, which caused her physical injury.
The man was located in the basement, where he was brandishing a metal object, police said. Officers used an electronic control device, and placed the man into custody, NCPD said.
The man and woman were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said. After a further investigation, it was revealed that the man had violated an order of protection, the NCPD said.
The man was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
He will be arraigned when medically practical, the NCPD said.
