• Local Memorial Day Firework Show Postponed (patch.com) — Port Washington residents planning to attend the Memorial Day fireworks at North Hempstead Beach Park should know the town has postponed the event because of weather concerns. The America 250th-themed commemoration, originally set for May 23 with music and food vendors, will be rescheduled to a later date still to be determined.
• Oceanside softball's Lily Chiofalo is Newsday's Athlete of the Week (newsday.com) — Port Washington’s softball team ran into a dominant Oceanside pitcher, as sophomore Lily Chiofalo threw a five-inning no-hitter against No. 8 Port Washington in the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals. The Oceanside standout, also a top student and musician, has now been named Newsday’s Athlete of the Week for her playoff performances.
