PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Seven people were forced from their rental home in Port Washington on Thursday, fire marshals said.
Firefighters responded to Monroe Street at about 7:50 p.m. to an active fire inside the home, Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said. Approximately 75 firefighters brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Plandome, Manhasset-Lakeville, and Roslyn fire departments provided mutual aid to the Port Washington Fire Department, all under the command of Chief Reese, fire marshals said.
No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is assisting the seven people who have been displaced, fire marshals said.
The NCFM's Office and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire, fire marshals said.
