Manhasset Back-To-School Giveaway Next Week To Provide Hundreds Of Free Supplies

MANHASSET, NY — Families in need of back-to-school supplies can pick up free backpacks and school essentials during an upcoming giveaway in Manhasset.

North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Christine Liu will host the second annual backpack giveaway on Aug. 4 as part of the Town of North Hempstead's National Night Out celebration at Whitney Pond Park, located at 133 Valley Road. The event begins at 4 p.m.

The program aims to help ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping for local families. Last year, the Town distributed 500 backpacks and hopes to provide even more this year.

Fifteen sponsors donated funds to help the Town purchase 600 backpacks filled with supplies, including folders, composition books, pencils, crayons, and glue sticks.
