PORT WASHINGTON, NY — After being rescued by a Good Samaritan in February 2024, bonded tabby brothers Purdue and Swatara are ready for their forever family.
Swatara's white markings around his mouth give him a perpetually puzzled look, but he's also known to flash a smile for the camera.
When the pair first arrived at Bianca's Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, the kittens were fearful of humans and other cats.
For years, Purdue and Swatara have leaned on each other while growing their bond and becoming more confident.
With help from the North Shore Animal League America's Port Washington behavior team, the brothers have made significant progress and are no longer as fearful. Now, they'll even greet new visitors at the door.
The brothers are almost 3 years old, and although they can still be a little hesitant around unfamiliar faces, a few treats are enough to help them warm up to a new beginning, shelter staff said.
Purdue and Swatara are looking for a home together with children over 8 years old, where they can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy life side by side.
