
Mary J. Picardi (nee Truss) passed away on Jan. 26, 2011, just six weeks after losing her beloved husband of 57 years. Mary was born on Sept. 26, 1925 to Teresa and Wassil Truss, who emigrated from Poland and the Ukraine respectively. Mary married Julius Picardi in May 1953. A resident of Port Washington for 57 years, Mary was originally from Great Neck and graduated from Great Neck High School in 1943.
Mary worked as a secretary at Hazeltine Corp. until becoming a homemaker to her husband and three children. Mary was a parishioner of and volunteered for many years in its thrift shop. She also helped organize the St. Peters holiday craft fair for several years.
In addition to her husband, Mary is predeceased by her parents and her brother John (Rita) Truss. She is survived by her three children, Carolee, Julius (Marie) and Christina (Vincent) and her three grandsons, Michael Picardi, Thomas and Bryan Quattrocchi; brothers Peter (Frances) Truss and William(Dorothy) Truss, brother-in-law, Lester Picardi, Sister-in-law, Madeline Picardi, many nieces, nephews and longtime friends. She will be dearly missed.
