PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Port Washington's own Anthony Scaramucci plans to speak at his hometown this week as part of fundraiser for the local Republican Club.

President Donald Trump's former White House communications director will talk about growing up in the area as well as about his work and politics, according to an event listing. Scaramucci shot to fame during a turbulent 11 days as head of White House communications director. He was unceremoniously fired by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly after The New Yorker ran an obscenity-laden interview with him and later published a book titled, "Trump: The Blue-Collar President." He also became the subject of the documentary film "Mooch," that chronicles major events in his life, including being a hedge fund financier.

Scaramucci grew up as a diehard Mets fan and delivered Newsday papers as a kid. He graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in the 1980s and later founded SkyBridge Capital, an investment company in Manhattan.
