Sands Point Preserve Conservancy presents an afternoon of music for audiences of all ages when the Northwinds Symphonic Band returns Sunday, June 7, at 3 p.m. to the Black Box Theatre in Castle Gould.
Led by conductors Helen P. Bauer and Concetta Stevens, the annual &ldquo;Broadway, Movies and Light Classics&rdquo; concert offers a family-friendly afternoon of music.
The program includes selections from Cyberworld 3D transcribed by Northwinds Band member Zachery Dornfeld, a collection of John Williams favorites from Star Wars
and Superman, and Salute to the Cinema, a medley of movie themes arranged by Long Island composer Carl Strommen. Satchmo!, a spirited tribute to legendary trumpet player Louis Armstrong, features songs from films across the generations. Vocal highlights include Let&rsquo;s Call the Whole Thing Off, popularized by Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire in Shall We Dance, along with Accentuate the Positive. Broadway actor Karen Murphy and tenor Joe Stroppel perform both selections, arranged by Long Island composer Ray Osnato.
Broadway numbers include The Golden Age of Broadway, celebrating the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, along with Marching Down Broadway, featuring songs from The Music Man, Oliver! and Wildcat.
Other highlights include Stroppel singing Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), made famous by Andrea Bocelli, trumpet soloist Caitlin Mallon capturing the warmth of a Latin sunset in Latin Sun, and percussionist Ryan Mitchell bringing rhythmic precision and flair on marimba with Leroy Anderson&rsquo;s Fiddle Faddle.
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds of the Preserve before the performance. The concert features approximately one hour of music and a 15-minute intermission. 
Tickets are $10 per person; non-members of the Conservancy must pay a $15 parking fee. Tickets are available on the day of the performance, payable by cash at the door or by credit card in the Welcome Center. We are thankful for the opportunity to host this luncheon at the Glen Cove Fire Department and to hear from Chief Justin Valeo,
 who will offer commentary on business and community-related concerns 
and matters affecting Glen Cove and our neighboring communities. Former Chief Dave Spy will also be with us during the luncheon.&nbsp;
We will also be presenting a special check donation to NOSH Delivers Inc., representing a portion of the proceeds from our recent 2026 Culinary Delights event. We are grateful to support the important work of NOSH Delivers Inc., including Margaret, Courtney, Christine, Linda, and the entirety of their very dedicated staff,
 who continue to serve our neighbors, a valued presence within our 
community and most recently their presence at our farmers market!
Several of our Chamber members have also been asking about our 
next multi-association meeting. We would like to share that it has been 
moved to Thursday, October 29th at Mill Neck Manor, which includes 8 local organizations; allowing everyone to enjoy the beautiful grounds in a cooler setting.&nbsp;
Everyone is welcome join and your guests are encouraged to attend this meeting.&nbsp;&nbsp;
