The Rules and When to Break them

500The Photography Club of Long Island will feature award winning photographer Marc Alter and his presentation “Creative Photography, the Rules & When to Break Them” on Wednesday, 7:30pm, September12, 2018 at the Port Washington Public Library. Mr. Alter will show the Port Washington community how to spruce up their images with some new creative approaches. Marc’s philosophy is that photography is an art form with the camera being the brush, editing software being the canvas and the photographer being the artist. Capturing the image is only the first part of this process with post-processing being of equal or greater value. Marc will discuss creative Photoshop techniques for beginners & advanced users and show some of his images as well.

Having been involved in photography & IT most of his life, Mr. Alter has a lot to share. Marc has been involved in photography since childhood, having grown up with 35mm film and darkroom chemicals. He bought his first “real” DSLR in 2005 and has never looked back. The marriage of his early photography experiences and his technical expertise, allows Marc to push his images for impact and emotion. Over the years Marc’s images have won numerous awards with both local and national competitions but more importantly, Marc simply enjoys sharing his images and expertise to help others learn and grow.
