Saawariya (2007-138 min.). Streetwalker Lilipop (Zohra Seghal) falls in love with shy musician Ranbir (Ranbir Kapoor), but he is smitten with the melancholy Sakina (Sonam Kapoor), who in turn yearns for the lover who promised to return to her a year ago. Screenwriters Prakash Kapadia and Vibhu Puri adapted Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s story “White Nights” (filmed previously by Luchino Visconti as Le Notti Bianchi) for producer/director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Monty and Sameer composed the tunes, and Ravi K. Chandran provided the ravishing color cinematography. In Hindi with English subtitles.
