Farmers' Market Opens June 13th
The Port Washington Farmers' Market will officially open on Saturday, June 13th at the Port Washington Town Docks from 8 am to 12 pm.

The Port Washington Farmers' Market will officially open on Saturday, June 13th. The market, which takes place every Saturday morning from 8am to noon on the Town Dock, is the only organic market in New York State. The market, a project of local non-profit Grassroots Environmental Education, is in its 20th year.
Opening day will feature early spring vegetables and local strawberries along with many other food items offered by new and returning vendors.
"Things will be a little different this year because of the pandemic," says market manager Doug Wood. "We won't be able to have the cafe, at least not for a while. So we can make your coffee and sell you a muffin, but you'll have to take it home or find a bench on the dock."

As per regulations issued by the New York State Department of Ag and Markets, face coverings will be mandatory at the market, and social distancing will be enforced to keep everyone safe. Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to the market.
Market patrons are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags. In honor of the state's new plastic bag ban, Grassroots will be offering two canvas shopping bags for the price of one on opening day.

For foodies, a farmers’ market is the best and most trusted resource for freshly harvested, seasonal and locally produced nutritious vegetables and fruits. And because Port's market is the only organic market in the state, customers can be assured they are not buying GMO varieties or those grown with chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
