FOL Announces Book & Author Luncheon Speakers; Spring 2020 Events

Luncheon on May 8 to feature National Book Award Winner Sarah Broom and Novelist Ben Lerner

Sarah M. Broom and Ben Lerner Headline 51st Annual Book & Author Luncheon - Friday May 8, North Hills Country Club, 11:30 a.m.
The Friends of the Port Washington Public Library proudly announces the two outstanding featured authors at its signature event will be 2019 National Book Award winner Sarah M. Broom (The Yellow House) and acclaimed novelist Ben Lerner (The Topeka School). Both books were named to The New York Times list of the Top 10 Books of 2019. Port’s own best-selling novelist Susan Isaacs returns as Program Moderator. Reservation brochures will be available starting April 1 in the library, mailed to library donors, or printable from pwpl.org/fol . Tickets are $95.

Paperback Swap - Saturday, March 21, 1 to 4 p.m. Bring your gently used adult, teen and children’s paperbacks for a free, friendly swap. Hundreds of patrons share thousands of books at this twice-yearly event. We accept no hardcovers EXCEPT for children's books, including board books. Please bring no more than 20 books per person. No books accepted in advance or after 3:30 pm. Browsers are welcome! Lapham Meeting Room.

FOL University - Sunday, March 29, 1:30 p.m., the Friends of the Library’s scholarly lecture program returns with two prominent academics. Dr. Douglas Rushkoff, Professor of Media Theory and Digital Economics at CUNY/Queens, will speak on his "Team Human Manifesto" at 1:30 p.m. Following a brief refreshment break, Dr, Margaret Hallissy, Professor of English at LIU Post, will discuss "Irish in America, Americans in Ireland: Novels of Connection and Division," at 3 p.m. Lapham Meeting Room.
