Free Native Tree Seedling Giveaway At Clark Botanic Garden

The event will take place during the annual Spring Plant Sale.

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — A free native tree seedling giveaway will take place during Clark Botanic Garden's annual Spring Plant Sale on May 8.

Native plants help the environment, including pollinators, by providing food, shelter, and nesting resources for wildlife species. They also help residents by helping to cool cities and improve peoples' health. Native plants, which also include trees, generally have low maintenance requirements, making them an easy choice for both green-thumb gardeners and beginners.

The plants will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis as there is a limited supply of donated trees. The species will include:

  • Downy Serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea)
  • American plum (Prunus americana)
  • Eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis)

Trees were donated by a local native plant nursery, Dropseed Native Landscapes. The event will be at Clark Botanic Garden located at 193 I U Willets Rd. in Albertson, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
