Grandmother Arrested After Leaving 4-Year-Old Girl At Park: Police

NCPD says the girl was left alone at Christopher Morley Park in North Hills.

NORTH HILLS, NY — A Roslyn Estates woman was arrested after endangering the welfare of a child on Monday afternoon in North Hills, police said.

Nassau County police said officers responded to Christopher Morley Park on Searingtown Road for a found juvenile. Upon arrival, they located an unattended 4-year-old girl, police said.

It was determined that the girl's grandmother, Zhuying Ma, 68, left the girl alone at the park and went home at approximately 2 p.m. on March 9, police said.

NCPD said Ma was placed under arrest when she returned to the park, and the girl was released to a family member.

Ma was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and will be arraigned on March 10 at First District Court in Hempstead.
