Larger Location for Fashion and Gifts Boutique Linda’s G2G

Store moves from Soundview to Port Commons.

Call it a change of a dress: fashion boutique Linda’s G2G has moved to the renovated Port Commons just in time for the back-to-school shopping season. Formerly housed across town at 1 Soundview Drive, owner Linda Levinger relocated to 1013 Port Washington Boulevard in search of increased square footage and greater proximity to her teen customer base in school a few blocks away on Campus Drive.

“I had outgrown the old space,” said Levinger, a whippet-thin blonde whose dark tan, turquoise eyes and fashion sensibility suggest a cross between Goldie Hawn and Sarah Jessica Parker. “Being by the school gives us more foot-traffic,” added Levinger who says her customer base ranges from baby and on up.

The shop sells women’s, teen's and children’s clothing, making it the only clothing store in Port Washington catering to such a wide demographic. The shop is also a veritable accessorypalooza, carrying items ranging from soda tab bracelets, the latest in tween arm candy, to celebrity Nicole Ritchie’s art-deco inspired House of Harlow line. Gift items including Seda France Candles round out the selection.

Shopper Nora Johnson browsed the store’s racks for the second time in a week, first shopping with her fifteen-year-old for back-to-school and then her 10-year old in search of a dress for a family bat mitzvah.

“They’ve done so much with the space, it’s fabulous, and such a great selection,” Johnson said, as she eyed a fringed sweater.

Levinger stocks a range of labels including the boho-inspired Free People as well as Sugarlips, Minnie Rose Cashmere, and Riley. Levinger deliberately seeks out moderately-priced labels on the cusp of hotness: the store is currently the only shop on Long Island to carry the cult LA-based label Brandy Melville.

“We have something for everyone,” Levinger said.  “We have the sequin look, the vintage look. We’re a little bit of Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Intermix.” Levinger also courts customers by offering items in a wide range of price-points. “If they have a dollar, we have something, if they have five dollars, we have something,” Levinger said about her gift items.

Mother-of-three and regular customer Eve Winston appreciates the store’s wide-selection. “She’s got the best gifts for all ages,” Winston said.

The shop will continue its party-favor and camp-baskets business through the store web site. For the first time, the shop will also offer gift cards. Shoppers interested in trunk shows can find dates on the store’s new Facebook page and updated web site.
