LIRR to Replace Port Washington Pedestrian Overpass 'as Soon as Possible'
Local officials met with the Long Island Rail Road president this week to discuss the issue.

LIRR President Pat Nowakowski told local officials the LIRR plans to replace the Port Washington pedestrian overpass that is currently closed off much to the dislike of commuters.
Town of North Hempstead supervisor Judi Bosworth and council member Dina De Giorgio met with Nowakowski this week to discuss the railroad’s plan.
The new, prefabricated overpass will be open as soon as possible, the LIRR says.

The overpass became closed off on June 29 after the bridge was found to be structurally unsound.
“[The LIRR] have worked closely with us on this issue and understand our desire to get the overpass replaced so that our commuters can have safe and easy passage over the tracks,” Bosworth said in a press release. "President Nowakowski has given me his assurance that he plans to have the new, prefabricated overpass up as soon as possible.”
