Update: Final Inspection at Manorhaven Pool by End of Week
Residents can still tour the facility.
Swimmers will have to wait a bit longer before testing the waters in the pool at . But not too much longer.
Pool-goers had been looking forward to a "soft opening" with free admission from June 18-25. Yet the pool remains closed to swimmers because of a delay in the fire protection system as it required inspection from the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office. Earlier on Tuesday, Vince McManus, the division supervisor of the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office, said the issue was that the system had not yet been completed.
Now the Town of North Hempstead anticipates that the pool will open for swimming in the next "few days." The free swim period has been "postponed," according to a Town spokesman.

Meanwhile, new details on the fire protection system emerged Tuesday evening.
"The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office has approved the fire alarm system at the Manorhaven Pool Complex this morning," said Peter Wilk of Wilk Marketing Communications, a spokesperson for the construction team at the Manorhaven Pool Complex.
"The marshal's office approved the design and plans for the fire sprinkler system at the bathhouse structure approximately two months ago," he said. "In addition, today, the marshals requested several revisions to a part of this system. These revisions are being currently implemented on an accelerated schedule, aiming at the final inspection and approval this week."
Wilk added: "All construction work was completed and the facility passed the Health Department's inspection earlier this month."
