Mill Neck Manor Offering More Tours, Event Hosting
Gold Coast-era mansion offering more tours and events to support programs for deaf students.
The historic Gold Coast-era mansion Mill Neck Manor has announced it will be more accessible to the community by offering more public tours and events.
Glen Cove resident Nancy Leghart of the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf volunteered to organize a series of tours and events as a fundraising effort to support the school's programs, now in danger of being cut back due to changes in the state budget. Tours will be at least once a month on Sundays, starting March 25.
The Tudor-style mansion was completed in 1926 as the summer home of businesswoman Lillian Sefton Dodge. It is one of the few surviving mansions from that time that is accessible to the public. The mansion features many historic details transplanted from European homes and castles, such as a series of stained-glass windows depicting the plays of William Shakespeare.
