PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Nala has been waiting for a family to take her home for the past three years.

The 3-year-old hound mix is currently available for adoption through North Shore Animal League America's Port Washington campus, where she has spent more than three years waiting for someone to see what makes her special.

Nala is playful, curious, and full of personality, according to the shelter. She loves playing with her favorite toys, going on long leash walks, and showing off her fetch skills.

Behind her goofy grin, Nala is also a sensitive and intelligent dog who has worked hard to build confidence and trust with help from the Animal League's Pet Behavior team.

She is looking for an experienced adopter who can provide the patience, structure, and guidance she needs to continue thriving.

Nala would do best in a home with older children and would need to meet any resident dogs to ensure they would get along, the shelter said.
