The Department of Public Safety oversees seven divisions, including the Town’s Animal Shelter, Code Enforcement, Harbor Patrol, Emergency Management, Parking Enforcement and the Port Washington Parking District. The Department of Public Safety is also responsible for enforcing the Town’s ordinances and regulations in the unincorporated villages.
As Deputy Commissioner, Brown worked to improve the Public Safety’s productivity, including mandating all Code Inspectors to wear a uniform, quantifying pro-active service requests, expanding Code Enforcement’s hours of operation to seven days a week as well as integrating the Department more closely with the 311 Call Center.
