North Hempstead Lifts Port Washington Street Meter Restrictions

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Mariann Dalimonte, and the Town Board recently unanimously approved a resolution to suspend parking fees for shoppers in Port Washington this holiday season. This initiative is being co-sponsored by the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce.

“As the holiday season approaches, it’s important for us to shop small and support our local businesses, especially those in our downtowns like Port Washington,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “COVID-19 has impacted so many people, including small business owners. We hope that temporarily suspending parking fees will enable residents to take advantage of all that Port Washington has to offer.”

Creating jobs, sponsoring a little league team, giving donations to our local charities and so much more,” said Council Member Dalimonte. “These are some of the reasons why you should always supPORT local. There are so many great hidden gems in our community, you can find something for everyone on your holiday list.”

The meters will be suspended on Small Business Saturday, Saturday, November 28, 2020 and from Tuesday, December 1, 2020 through Friday, January 1, 2021 Motorists must still comply with the posted time limitations. Metered parking will be suspended on the following Port Washington roads:

Port Washington Boulevard - Mertz Place to Campus Drive & Bogart Avenue to Concord Road

Main Street - Port Washington Boulevard to Third Avenue

Irma Avenue, S. Maryland Avenue and Carlton Avenue

Small Business Saturday, November 28, is part of a national effort to drive consumers to shop at local independently owned businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
