North Hills Tractor-Trailer Crash Turns Fatal, Passenger Dies From Injuries, Police Say

NCPD says a man succumbed to injuries on Monday after a LIE crash.

NORTH HILLS, NY — The North Hills tractor-trailer crash that occurred on Friday night has become fatal, police said.

Nassau County police said the 31-year-old passenger had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by a hospital physician on Monday.

On May 29 at approximately 11:38 p.m., a 53-year-old man was driving a 2011 Mack Tractor Trailer westbound on the Long Island Expressway near exit 34 when he rear-ended a 2023 Honda Civic driven by a 32-year-old man.

According to police, all three occupants in the Honda were transported by NCPD ambulances to local hospitals. The driver and a 33-year-old passenger were treated for minor injuries, while the 31-year-old passenger was in critical condition and has since passed.

The tractor-trailer driver did not report any injuries, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
