LWV Sponsors Program on Women Gaining Political Office

The League of Women Voters of Port Washington – Manhasset is sponsoring an event on Wednesday, April 5 titled, "The Political Glass Ceiling - Cracked but Not Shattered," – what should be a thought provoking discussion. Topics will include the challenges women face and the strategies they can use when running for political office.

Guest speakers include: Traci Levy, chair, Political Science Department and director, Gender Studies at Adelphi University; Brette McSweeney, president, Eleanor’s Legacy, an organization working to elect women to state and local office in New York State; Tammie S. Williams, community organizer and currently district director for Sen. John Brooks; and Jamie Franchi, executive editor of Morey Publishing who has been published in the Long Island Press and the New York Times, as well as other outlets.
