Port Washington Native Earns College Lacrosse Honors

Port Washington's Alex Bellini of the Muhlenberg College women’s lacrosse team was named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team and the Mules’ Player’s Player.

The Sportsmanship Team honors a player from each team who has displayed good behavior on the field throughout the season.

The Player’s Player is each sport’s Most Valuable Player, as determined by a team vote. In addition to athletic performance, the award encompasses leadership, loyalty and support of teammates.

Bellini, a senior, served as a team captain and was fourth on the team with 17 goals despite missing three games with injury. In the final game of her career, she recorded her fifth career hat trick with three goals in a 16-11 win against Ursinus.

One of the most accurate shooters in team history, Bellini ended her career with 87 points on 68 goals and 19 assists.

Playing in one of the strongest Division III women’s lacrosse leagues, the Mules won their final three games to finish at 8-7, a three-win improvement from 2012.
