Port Washington's Evie Fitzsimmons Honored

The 98-year-old has served as a member of the Cow Neck Historical Society since becoming a trustee in 1966.

Evie Fitzsimmons, 98, received a proclamation from the Town of North Hempstead, for serving as a member of the Cow Neck Historical Society since becoming a trustee back in 1966.

Fittingly, Fitzsimmons received the recognition at the society’s 49th Annual Cow Neck Fair, on Sept. 27.

The fair takes visitors on a journey through the history of the Cow Neck Peninsula and features items such as a 1909 race car, and sights like a potter potting and a wool spinner spinning.
