PWUFSD Music Students Recognized Among Best in NYS
Seven Schreiber Students Selected for the 2020 NYSSMA All-State Music Ensembles

Port Washington, New York (September 2020)—The Port Washington Union Free School District is proud to announce that seven students were selected to represent the district in the 2020 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Music Ensembles. The event, which was initially canceled, will now take place virtually.
“Congratulations to Daniel, Lily, Olivia, Ian, Gavin, Emma and Caleb on this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Michael Hynes, Superintendent of Port Washington Union Free School District. “The passion and dedication that these students demonstrate for their music, coupled with their performance in the classroom is remarkable. We are so proud of our students who have worked so diligently to achieve this honor and want to say thank you to their teachers for their contributions to these students’ success.”
Schreiber’s students selected to participate were Daniel Chen for string orchestra (violin), Lily Dell for mixed chorus (alto), Olivia Massa for treble chorus (alto), Ian Miller for mixed chorus (tenor), Gavin Shaub for vocal jazz (bass voice), Emma Weston for symphonic band (trumpet), and Caleb Thomas for alternate jazz ensemble (jazz drum set).

“These students’ accomplishments reflect not only their own dedication, but that of their music teachers and past music teachers, as well as the rest of the school community,” said Mr. Kevin Scully, Director of Creative Arts. “Thank you to everyone for all of your support of our music program!”
