Shop for Charity Event in Port Washington
Glenn Bradford Shop is donating a portion of sales to local, regional and global charities, including those in the Glen Cove area.

The 13th annual Port Washington-based Glenn Bradford Shop for Charity event at 279 Main Street is a way for shoppers to select holiday gifts while also giving back to the community.
From now through Dec. 24, the Bradfords are donating 10 percent of sales from their “Buddha,” “Love Locket, ” and “Diamond Dust” collections to local charities. In addition the shop is giving 5 percent of all other sales, and 25 percent of Sharyn Bradford’s Fine Art as well as Glenn Bradford shop-for-charity e-gift cards that range in value from $50 to $5,000, and can be used online on in the store.
As Glenn Bradford tells it, the shop’s charitable arm dates back to 2001.

“It was born as a grassroots effort right after 9/11,” he said, in a statement. “Our shop was in Roslyn Village, which lost two firefighters and a police officer. We raised substantial funds for the surviving families that were distributed by The Roslyn Fire Department.
The shop has made a point of helping local non-profits.

“Our philanthropy is continuous as we give throughout the year,” said Sharyn Bradford. “It is part of our brand DNA and the support of our loyal clientele has allowed us to give back and raise tremendous awareness for charities that may fall below the radar of many people. We have a deep connection to our charities.”
Giving back is now a family affair for the Bradfords. Their children have taken on causes that included helping underprivileged girls at the North Shore Holiday House and raising money and awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
The shop is holding a shop-for-charity holiday cocktail party on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6-9 p.m. and is participating in Port Holiday Magic and Dec. 4 from 6-9 p.m. with a $500 door prize raffle.
