22-Year-Old Woman Found Dead In Her Crown Heights Home: NYPD
Police found Tonie Wells at the bottom of the basement staircase in her Sterling Place home Wednesday afternoon.
CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A 22-year-old woman was found dead at the bottom of a Crown Heights staircase Wednesday morning, said police.
Tonie Wells, 22, was found in the basement of her home near Sterling and Virginia places around 9:50 a.m. by police officers responding to a 911 call, the NYPD said in a statement.
Emergency responders rushed to the home but were unable to save the young woman’s life and pronounced her dead at the scene, said police.

Police noted that Wells' body showed signs of trauma.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation continues, said police.
