Fishner reports that the highlight of the meal was the bread basket, with walnut raisin bread and sweet cream butter flecked with black sea-salt, but that he also loved the Pulled Pig Head Croquettes (fried spice pork balls with honey mustard, $6) as well as the Smoked Quail Eggs ($5), which were runny, but not too messy.

Other highlights, according to the review, were the Terrine with Huckleberry ($9), a duck scrapple served with grilled bread and huckleberry jam. For value, The Trapper's Snack gives diners homemade beef jerky with sharp Cabot Clothbound cheddar and sliced cured ham for only $6, says Fishner.

Fishner and his companion also tried the Legume Salad ($10), a combination of favas, shell peas, sugar snaps, haricots verts and romano beans topped with thin slices of raw aged Leonardsville soft cow cheese, a peppery vinaigrette and croutons.

According to Fishner, “the salad was quite good, letting the vegetables shine with their natural sweetness.”

Overall, Woodland seems to have garnered the Apps Only seal of approval. Have you stopped by yet? What are your favorite dishes?
