Branded Saloon: Best 'Almost-Gay Bar'?

Time Out New York gushed over the bar's friendly staff and fun nightly events.

Want an all-inclusive bar that’s welcoming of all orientations? Well, it’s the Branded Saloon, right in your backyard, says Time Out New York, who added the bar to its list of New York’s Best of 2012.

Dubbing it the “best not-quite-gay-but-almost-gay bar,” the magazine says that Branded Saloon “nicely fills a void in central Brooklyn’s queer nightlife.”

And every night is a different crowd depending on the event, says Time Out, from drag-queen trivia, football, karaoke, burlesque shows, and live music by both gay and straight artists.

What is constant, says the magazine, is the “friendly and attentive staff, and the welcoming, cheerful vibe.”

A few other Brooklyn faves made the list, like Lucali, Dekalb Market, Video Free Brooklyn and Greenlight Bookstore. Agree with the magazine’s list, or did they leave out a lot of New York’s best? Share your thoughts in the comments.
