CaribBEING's Heritage Film Series: Cimarron Spirit. 6/25, 2PM at the Brooklyn Museum.

Cimarrón Spirit celebrates the masquerade traditions of the cimarrones, descendants of Taíno Indians and escaped enslaved Africans.

This is the second film in our Heritage Film Series and celebrates the diverse, resilient, and resourceful masquerade traditions of the cimarrones, descendants of Taino Indians and escaped enslaved Africans, that exist outside mainstream Dominican society. The New York City premier will be followed by a talkback with the director and a performance by Taino folksinger Irka Mateo.
