Crown Heights Man Who Killed A Father In Brooklyn Gets Life: DA

Deyshawn James shot his victim, a father of four, twice in the face and six times in the back, prosecutors said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN - A Crown Heights man who fatally shot a father of four in the face was sentenced to life in prison Thursday, prosecutors said.

Deyshawn James, 25, will serve at least 37 years in jail for killing Clarence Bryant, 32, in a parked car in Gravesend on September 12, 2015, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced.

James shot the young father, who sat in the back seat of a car on 86th Street, twice in the face and six times in the back, prosecutors said.

Bryant tried to crawl into the front seat and evade his killer, but his wounds proved fatal, said prosecutors.

The car’s driver rushed Bryant to Coney Island Hospital but doctors could not save his life, prosecutors said.

James was arrested after investigators discovered surveillance video of the shooting and was found guilty of murder in February, prosecutors said.
