Drink and Draw: The Obama Portraits Tour

This month's class focuses on the vibrant and groundbreaking depictions of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Biergarten, Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden
Sip and sketch in our backyard Biergarten this summer with a monthly series of life drawing classes, open to all levels and accompanied by a refreshing beverage and musical vibes by local DJs. Honor Black portraiture and power in this month’s class focusing on the vibrant and groundbreaking depictions of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama by artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. Learn multimedia techniques and try your hand at various approaches to depicting the human form in a casual class led by Museum teaching artist James Antwine. Plus, enjoy a musical set by DJ InO.
Tickets are $35 and include after-hours admission to The Obama Portraits Tour, art materials in your own Brooklyn Museum tote, and a complimentary drink. Member tickets are $25. Not a Member? Join today!
This event takes place outdoors. In case of inclement weather, we will notify participants 24 hours in advance with the option to join us on an alternate date. We’re following procedures and guidelines laid out by the CDC and local health officials, including practicing social distancing for all activities. Masks are required for all adults and children over the age of 2. Indoor restrooms will be available.
