Garbage Truck Kills Man In Crown Heights, Police Say

A city garbage truck ran over and killed a man on Eastern Parkway Thursday morning, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN -- A city-owned garbage truck ran over and killed a man Thursday morning, police said.

A Sanitation Department truck slammed into a 37-year-old man on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue at about 6:45 a.m., said police.

The truck was traveling west on Eastern Parkway and was trying to make a right turn when he hit the man crossing Brooklyn Avenue, police said.

Emergency responders were unable to save the man, who suffered severe head injuries, and pronounced him dead on arrival, according to police.

The driver remained at the scene and the investigation remains ongoing, said police.
