Man Shot Dead Outside Prospect Heights Church, Cops Say

Courtney Tingle, of Fort Greene, was shot dead in front of a Washington Avenue church Friday night, police said.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn man was shot dead outside a Prospect Heights church Friday night, police said.

Courtney Tingle, 26, had a bullet hole in his chest when police found him lying outside the Beulah Church of the Nazarene Annex on Washington Avenue and Bergen Street just after 10 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Emergency responders rushed Tingle, of Fort Greene, to Methodist Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life, police said.

Tingle, father to a young son, had just left a baby shower when he got into an argument with the man who shot him, the New York Post reported.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, according to police.
