PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A new casual American food restaurant is slated to open in a Flatbush Avenue storefront that has stood vacant for almost three years.

Construction is wrapping up at 630 Flatbush Ave. and the owners of Edie Jo's hope to open their doors by the end of the month, according to alerts on Instagram.

"A neighborhood restaurant coming in May to PLG," the owners write. "Stay tuned!"

City records show the restaurant is a joint-venture between Benjamin Toro, Douglas Friedman, David Stanfill, Kenneth Crosby, Theresa McVie, Thomas Reiter, Jonathan Liu, Nicole Stanfill, all of whom applied for a full liquor license (which is pending) in March 2018.

Toro, a neighborhood local, told Flatbushed bloggers last year the casual eatery will feature outdoor seating, serve American fare at breakfast, lunch and dinner and stay open seven days a week.

“It’s not going to be fancy with white tablecloths," Toro reportedly said. “I want this to be something that will fit in here.”

The restaurant space on the ground floor of The Parkline, the new 24-story development that went up in 2016, has stood vacant for almost three years.

Edie Jo's will be next door neighbors to the independent bookstore, Greenlight, and possibly across the street from Scoops, unless owner Tony Fongyit is successfully evicted from the shop he's run for 34 years.

The restaurant's announcement that it would soon be opening was first spotted by The Q at Parkside.
