So we're a week into our effort and although the flag has not yet been retired & replaced I've receive a message of hope from the park supervisor..."I will see that the flag is replaced!"....Time will tell! Meanwhile, here is what the flag looked like today, Thursday, August 28, 2013.
While the Stars & Stripes makes a valiant effort to wave it reveals it's weather worn & torn condition. This flag is in terrible need of replacement. Like many before, it has flown courageously through the years. It has earned a dignified retirement and a worthy successor. Perhaps we can get this done before the Parade this weekend.
For the ancestors...those that came before us. Those for whom this flag had or has meaning. Let's ease their pain...if only just a little.
Is that too much to ask?
