The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for all of New York City:
...ENHANCED RISK OF FIRE GROWTH AND SPREAD TODAY... VERY DRY CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP TODAY WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES DROPPING TO 15 TO 25 PERCENT AND NORTH WINDS GUSTING BETWEEN 20 TO 25 MPH. THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ENHANCED RISK FOR THE GROWTH AND SPREAD OF ANY WILDFIRES THAT DEVELOP TODAY. BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL WITH ANY OUTDOOR BURNING OR DISCARDING OF SMOKING MATERIALS.
