Spring Fling Brings Theater And Sheep Shearing To Prospect Park

Prospect Park Alliance celebrates the start of spring with a jam packed weekend of fun in Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Prospect Park Alliance is kicking off spring in Brooklyn with its Community Spring Fling Celebration in Prospect Park this month.

With 17 events planned from over the course of the weekend from May 17 to 19, there is something fun for everyone to enjoy.

Events will include a staged reading of Moliere's The Misanthrope, featuring "Orange is the New Black" star Samira Wiley, a themed '90s roller disco featuring Lola Star, a chance to watch an 1860s-styled baseball game, bird watching, trail walking, the Spring Fling Fair and much more, according to a press release.

The alliance was formed in 1987 to help with the maintenance and restoration of Prospect Park after decades of deterioration and decline. Today, the Brooklyn nonprofit boasts a diverse membership that includes all types, from horticulturalists and ecologists to maintenance workers, educators and volunteer coordinators who help keep the park clean and green.
