Trump Supporter Calls Cops On Campaigning State Senator: Video

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN -- State Senator Jesse Hamilton said a Trump supporter called police because he was campaigning on a Brooklyn street corner.

Hamilton posted video to Twitter Thursday night of the woman standing outside the Prospect Park Q train station on Flatbush Avenue and clutching a campaign flyer that reads "Fighting back Trump!"

"A Trump supporter called the police on me today," Hamilton wrote. "My crime was speaking to constituents about immigration and Trump's racist policies."

A campaign staffer can be heard quizzing the woman, who did not giver her name in the video, about her political leanings.

"This should not be here," the woman says, pointing to the campaign flyer. "If he really wants nation be as one, and fight for the better life, and live in the better life, he would not put this slogan here."

After the video ended, the woman called 911 to report Hamilton and complain about his stance on Trump's immigration policies, a law enforcement source told the New York Post. Police arrived to explain that the state senator had not broken any laws.

Hamilton, a Democrat who represents State Senate District 20 in Brooklyn, is slated to face off against progressive Zellnor Myrie in a primary on Sept. 13 and was out campaigning Thursday morning when the incident occurred, he said.

"#LivingWhileBlack," Hamilton wrote on Twitter. "The pattern of targeting Black men and women for being Black and alive in the communities we all share has to stop."
