• Putnam marks 20th anniversary of Gold Star Mother's statue (midhudsonnews.com) — A ceremony at Putnam Veterans Memorial Park in Kent marked the 20th anniversary of Putnam County's Gold Star Mothers statue, drawing veterans and Gold Star families from around the region. The event also recalled Putnam Lake resident Hazel Martinez, the county's first Gold Star Mother, honoring her service to veterans and her son's sacrifice in Vietnam.
