QUEENS, NY — A dead whale washed ashore on Rockaway Beach on Thursday.

The 40-foot sei whale was spotted near Beach 95th Street, according to the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society.

The sei whale was spotted floating in the water on Wednesday night before washing ashore on Thursday.
