FDNY Firefighters Save Baby After Performing Emergency NYC Home Birth (patch.com) — Queens residents are hearing how FDNY firefighters from Engine 277 rushed to a Myrtle Avenue home and helped deliver a baby who was not breathing and had no pulse. Firefighter Jeffrey Jovin, drawing on his paramedic experience, performed CPR and worked with EMS to stabilize the newborn, who later regained a pulse and began breathing at the hospital.    

2. DOT Debuts New Plan For 31st Street Bike Lane Redesign In Queens: See Photos (patch.com) — A major safety-focused redesign is coming to 31st Street in Astoria, with the city proposing curbside protected bike lanes, pedestrian islands, and new loading and parking rules between Northern Boulevard and 20th Avenue. Officials say the corridor is among the most dangerous in Queens, and the plan aims to protect cyclists and pedestrians while balancing business needs through truck zones and metered parking.    

3. 15-year-old boy shot, killed in park in Queens: officials (abc7ny.com) — A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot Thursday evening at a park near Baisley and Merrick boulevards in Queens, and police say an investigation is underway. The teen was rushed to Jamaica Medical Center, where he later died. Authorities have not yet released further details, and officials are asking residents to stay tuned for updates.    

4. Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita Announced For AEW Double Or Nothing (411mania.com) — Wrestling fans in Queens can look forward to AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view hitting Louis Armstrong Stadium on May 24, headlined by Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita for the International Championship. The article recaps how the feud and match stipulations came together across recent AEW shows.    

5. NYC officials refuse ICE hold for illegal immigrant accused in arson that killed 4 and injured 7: DHS (nypost.com) — A deadly March 16 fire in a Flushing apartment building, which killed four people and injured seven, is now at the center of a clash between Queens prosecutors, city officials, and federal immigration authorities. The suspect, a Mexican national charged with murder and arson, is being held locally while DHS criticizes New York City’s sanctuary policies for refusing to honor an ICE detainer.
