Attorney General James and NYPD Commissioner Tisch Announce Takedown of Drug Trafficking Operation in Queens (cannabislaw.report) — Law enforcement has dismantled an alleged cocaine trafficking operation centered near an elementary school in Queens, following a 17‑month investigation that led to two arrests and a 65‑count indictment. Officials say the case, now in Queens County Supreme Court, involved sales close to P255 at PS 908Q and seizures of drugs and cash from locations in Queens and Brooklyn.    

2. Eight-Building Rockaway Village Complex Completes Construction in Far Rockaway, Queens (newyorkyimby.com) — A massive new affordable housing complex, Rockaway Village, has just finished construction in Far Rockaway, bringing 1,700 income-restricted apartments, new shops, and community space to Queens. Local leaders, including Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., marked the $1 billion project’s completion, which replaces a mostly vacant strip mall and adds plazas, parking, and green-certified buildings near A train and LIRR service.    

3. New York City reopens Astoria Pool in Queens with free entry (latination.com) — Astoria’s landmark public pool in Queens will fully reopen on Saturday, June 27, with free admission and two daily swim sessions separated by a deep-cleaning break. After a $19 million renovation preserving its Art Deco character, the city’s largest outdoor pool returns as a major cooling refuge for Queens residents facing increasingly intense summer heat.    

4. Hero firefighter reunites with woman he saved from submerged car during flash flood (abc7ny.com) — A Queens principal is safely back at school thanks to an off-duty FDNY firefighter who pulled her from a nearly submerged car on the Jackie Robinson Parkway during Wednesday night’s flash floods. The pair reunited in Queens days later as city officials honored the firefighter’s quick-thinking rescue that was captured in dramatic photos.    

5. Bandido Credits MJF for Guiding and Helping Him (411mania.com) — Queens wrestling fans can catch AEW’s Double or Nothing 2026 live at Louis Armstrong Stadium, where Bandido enters the Owen Hart Cup tournament against Swerve Strickland. In a recent interview, Bandido praised MJF for mentoring him during their earlier AEW World Title match and said he’s staying focused for another future championship opportunity.
